Speckled Raven Fruit Bowl
The raven is one of the most complex and intelligent birds, a common character in myth and folklore. Ravens have been a symbol of mystery and magic for hundreds of years, even thought to be harbingers of death.
This piece is a part of a series where I use silver luster to heighten the irregular markings of the glaze that are totally unique to each piece.
This bowl is about 7” wide at the top, and fits five plums perfectly.
This one of a kind bowl is thrown on the wheel from white stoneware, then dipped in black slip and hand carved into. I distress the slip, let it run, and embrace the individuality of each piece. Painted gold luster adorns the piece, highlighting the details of the image and the irregularities of the slip.
Please note, luster is not microwave safe. Be safe when using your pieces. Hand wash only.
