The fawn - pinnacle of innocence and the vulnerability of youth. When you meet the eyes of a wild animal, you see something that also lives in you. The fawn is a reminder to be gentle, as it recedes into its disguise of wildflowers.
This piece is thrown on the wheel from white stoneware, then dipped in black slip which gives a layered, atmospheric quality to its color. I carve the image by hand, and added gold luster features to enhance the movement of the slip on the piece.
Approximately 5” wide. This plate could be wired to hang on the wall, used as a catch-all for jewelry, or as a plate for a decadent snack.
