Butterfly Bowl

Butterflies are post metamorphosis, a beautiful, fragile reminder of beauty and transformation.

This piece is thrown on the wheel from white stoneware, then dipped in black slip which gives a layered, atmospheric quality to its color. I carve the image by hand, and added gold luster features to enhance the movement of the slip on the piece and the naturalistic patterns on the wings.

Approximately 4-4.5" wide by 3” tall.
