This piece is thrown in two parts - on the wheel from white stoneware, then dipped in black slip. I carve the image by hand, and added gold luster features to enhance the movement of the slip on the piece and the naturalistic patterns on the wings.
I see moths as a manifestation of the feminine, yin or receptive energy. They are connected to the Shadow and, when seen in dreams, are powerful messengers from our psychic subconscious.
Approximately 4.5" wide by 4" tall.
