Evening Foxes - Fruit Bowl
Evening Foxes - Fruit Bowl
Pictured on this bowl are two foxes - one asleep, the other one gallivanting through the woods. The fox is clever, stealthy, and something of a trickster in folklore and fables. They are remarkable for their striking appearance and untamable demeanor. They’re also crepuscular - this bowl is about the moment between sleep and wakefulness, channelling the unbridled wild energy of the fox.
This one of a kind piece is thrown on the wheel from white stoneware - with some iron speckles decorating the clay body - then dipped in black slip and hand carved into. I distress the slip, let it run, and embrace the individuality of each piece. Gold luster emphasizes the movement of the carving and the slip.
This bowl perfectly fits one pint of strawberries.
